How it all Started
Back in the early 90's, Risa Blythe had been working in commercial printing since her teens and had worked her way from entry-level press operator running a 1250 Multi to running a Heidelberg MO to production management. She was starting to realize that the particular combination of skills she had (mechanical aptitude, motivation, attention to detail and patience) was ideally suited to business ownership / management, which would in turn allow her to support the underserved communities and non-profits she wanted to support.
The first piece of equipment Risa bought was a beat-up old 10,000 lb Miele press that didn't run. She fixed it and never looked back. Her first customer was COCA (Center on Contemporary Arts). A couple of moves later, and with a growing list of phenomenal customers, Girlie Press is well settled in a 5,000 sq ft facility with 101,758 lbs of equipment (including 1,758 lbs of people power).
